Vocational skills and livelihood training are the proper remedies for poverty, the city government of Muntinlupa said.

The city government, under its anti-poverty campaign dubbed “Tuloy-tuloy na Serbisyo,” is looking to equip its constituents with the tools to overcome poverty with the help of the Muntinlupa City Technical Institute.

Mayor Aldrin San Pedro said the MCTI is in the forefront of providing in-house technical and vocational education training and skills development pertinent to the needs of the city, local industries and the international business community.

“One of the operational arms of MCTI is the MCTI Outreach and Livelihood Community Service which conducts livelihood training outside of the MCTI premises,” the mayor said.

The MCTI, through its partnership with the Kilusang Bayan sa Paglilingkod ng Muntinlupa City Inc., is focused on livelihood projects that provide employment opportunities and at the same time pursue entrepreneurial interests for graduates of Reflexology and Cosmetology.

The learning institution imposes a one-month compulsory on-the-job training extension to Reflexology and Cosmetology graduates to prep them for future employment and complement
Muntinlupa’s community service program by offering free massages and haircuts.

The “Libreng Masahe” and “Libreng Gupit” have become the flagship operation of MCTI in its community outreach programs, the mayor said.

Formed in November 2008, the MCTI-KBPMCI partnership is also involved in other community service activities such as fogging, tree-trimming, animal vaccination, grass-cutting and river-cleaning.
