Ateneo seeks repeat over La Salle
Exactly a week after their clash, bitter rivals Ateneo and La Salle square off again in front of an expected packed crowd at the Araneta Coliseum.
Riding high from their 80-75 win over University of the East three days ago, the Blue Eagles try to repeat over their archrival for the sixth straight time as they gun for their eighth win in nine games.
Game time is set 5 p.m. after University of the East and Adamson collide in the curtain-raiser at 12 noon. Just like last week, tickets will be sold separately after league officials saw the scheme successful last Sunday where 15,707 fans watched the Ateneo-La Salle showdown while 4,889 paying customers drove to the Big Dome to see Far Eastern University beat UE, 76-72.
Despite the win, Ateneo head coach Norman Black is not taking things lightly after the youth-laden Archers played tooth-and-nail before bowing in overtime, 76-72.
After that loss, La Salle absorbed another 61-55 defeat to Adamson last Thursday.
“We can’t worry about them losing to Adamson,” Black said. “What we have to worry is to beat them on Sunday.
It’s going to be a tough game.”
