Senior citizens and persons with disabilities are now exempted from the on-street parking limit along main thoroughfares in the Makati Central Business District.

This after the Makati City Council enacted City Ordinance 2009-029, which amends City Ordinance 1997-175 that allows the Makati Parking Authority to tow vehicles exceeding a three-hour parking limit.

The ordinance was approved in recognition of the impediments and predicaments of physically incapacitated persons and senior citizens in finding parking slots in the CBD.

To avail of the privilege, the senior citizen should be personally driving the vehicle since they would be sharing the privilege with PWDs on a "First Come, First Park" basis.

Upon parking, the senior citizens and PWDs should present their respective senior citizen and PWD cards issued by national and local government agencies.

The ordinance was penned by Councilors Jejomar Binay, Jr., Elias Tolentino, Jr., Israel Cruzado, Armando Padilla, and Salvador Pangilinan.
