Robin Padilla for Tipid-Sulit Pinas!
(If they get into Tipid Sulit people will be productive. House husbands are more prevalent now. There’s nothing like earning money as head of the family).”
Robin Padilla of course is the lead star of the now defunct action/drama series on GMA-7, “Totoy Bato.”
As part of its commitment to empower Filipinos especially during times of crisis, Talk ‘N Text, one of the country’s leading mobile service brands, recently launched Tipid-Sulit Pinas! The advocacy campaign reinforces the value of making the most out of limited resources. It also aims to motivate people, experiencing the financial pinch, to recognize opportunities through ingenuity, hard work, and perseverance.
“Tipid-Sulit Pinas! believes that Filipinos have and continue to overcome crisis situations by using the diskarteng tipid-sulit as a tool,” explains Perry Bayani, Group Head of Talk ‘N Text. “We have partnered with a number of organizations including social development foundation Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), the Payatas women’s initiative Rags2Riches, nationwide sari-sari store chain Hapinoy, the talented group of sculptors Banglos, and recruitment network JobsDB. These partner organizations have successfully adopted the same tipid-sulit strategy in helping communities get back on their feet and become an inspiration for others.”
Tipid-Sulit Pinas! will serve as a vehicle for spreading the inspiring success stories of its partners and supporting their programs through an extensive nationwide campaign. “Our partner organizations are all products of Filipino ingenuity and hard work. All of them have grown from being small community-based projects that were merely created to make an extra buck, to highly-successful organizations that can now positively affect the lives of thousands of Filipinos across the nation,” shares Bayani.
To get people involved in the advocacy, Tipid-Sulit Pinas! opens up pathways for Talk ‘N Text subscribers to contribute through a “loadvocacy” program. All proceeds of the program will go to the advocacy fund, which will benefit Tipid-Sulit Pinas! partner organizations. Subscribers need only to register to Gaantext 10 by texting GT 10 to 8855. For every registration, Talk ‘N Text will donate to the Tipid-Sulit Pinas! Fund, while the subscriber enjoys the same Gaantext 10 service: 55 text messages to other Talk ‘N Text and SMART numbers, plus 5 text messages to other networks. Moreover, the registrant automatically gets the “Tipid-Sulit” anthem caller ringtune for free.
With all these in place, Tipid-Sulit Pinas! is indeed on its way to instilling a stronger sense of diskarteng tipid-sulit in each and every Filipino. “Tipid-Sulit Pinas! reminds us that with the right set of values, everyone may contribute to creating a positive influence that can change lives for the better, not just as individuals, but as an entire nation as well,” concludes Bayani.
The origins of Tipid Sulit! is out of a sincere effort to help their countrymen. Chief Wireless Advisor Doy Vea explained, “Hanapbuhay whether normal or difficult times is a life or death concern for most Filipinos. During one of our meetings, Manny V. Pangilinan our chairman clarified things. He said, ‘Let’s strike at the root. Hanapbuhay is the only way we can be most effective in helping our countrymen.’ His vision is Tipid Sulit Idol. It even rated high against entertainment shows. Hanapbuhay beats showbiz.”
