NCAA Finals MVP Jeo Ambohot brings championship experience to the big league

A fitting ending for a valiant Knight.

Letran big man Jeo Ambohot made sure to have his final year count as he is leaving his alma mater with the title back in Intramuros and with the Finals MVP trophy on his possession.

The 6-foot-7 big man, who was picked third overall by Converge in the 2022 PBA Rookie Draft, also capped a season-long brilliance with a Mythical Team selection.

“Sobrang saya talaga kasi pag exit ko ng Letran may napatunayan din ako para di naman 'to sa Letran, sa pamilya namin, sa mga mahal namin sa buhay,” Ambohot said of his final season with the Knights where he will be best remembered for his go-ahead basket in their 68-63 come-from-behind win in Game 1.

He also played solid in the title-clinching game as he poured a near double-double of 13 points and nine rebounds along with a shot block to keep the Knights’ heads above the water during a furious second-half fightback from the Cardinals.

“Binigay ko lang naman ‘yung best ko kasi nung mga summer parang wala kami eh. Akala namin mahihina kami pero ayun nagbunga naman yung pag sasakripisyo namin. Sobrang saya ko ngayon mixed emotion,” said Ambohot moments after he was awarded as the Finals MVP.

Ambohot however hopes to use the stellar performance as his springboard to the PBA where he is set to team up with fellow Mythical Team member Justin Arana who was also tapped as fourth overall by the FiberXers in the recent draft.

Both Ambohot and Arana have yet to sign for Converge but the Letran standout is hopeful that his Finals showing and potential would be enough to convince the team.
