Sexy is just a proper fit away

Charlene Gonzalez is the first to acknowledge that not everyone has an “hourglass” figure.
That’s why the statuesque former beauty queen was more than pleased to be selected as the newest image endorser of ForMe women’s apparel, with its rather unique concept of placing emphasis on fit. “I like the fact the brand caters to all body types and offers something for just about everyone, from teenagers to moms to in their 30’s, 40’s and 50’s,” she exclaims during the launch of the brand’s latest collection at its concept store in SM Megamall. No matter who you are and whatever your style, there’s a ForMe clothing just for you.”
As women’s fashion brands go, ForMe seems to be the only one in the market right now that helps women figure out their own “sexy figure.” “ForMe takes real women’s assets and, yes, flaws into careful consideration,” says ForMe brand director Arlyn Guanlao. “The result is flattering, stylish and well-fitting clothes that don’t just look good on rail-thin mannequins, models and celebrities like Charlene Gonzalez but also on real women that we encounter everyday,”
And, according to ForMe, you’re an Hourglass type just like Gonzalez if you have proportioned shoulders and hips plus a well-defined waist. You’re an Inverted Triangle type if you have broad shoulders but narrow hips, a Rectangle if you’re straight from top to bottom and simply a Triangle if you have wide hips and narrow shoulders.
And figuring out your sexy shape is no rocket science in the ForMe system. Guanlao suggests that, for starters, place a measuring tape at the tip of one shoulder and skim the widest circumference of your shoulders until it meets back at the same spot. Then wrap the same tape across the fullest part of your breasts as tight as you can without changing the shape. After that, you can wrap the tape fully around the smallest part of your waist, just above your navel then finally wrap the tape fully around your first hip below your hip bone. “You can then figure out which of the four ForMe sexy figure is your body type,” Gonzalez concludes.
In the latest ForMe collection, Gonzalez modeled several clothes that are also suited for the other body types aside from her own Hourglass figure. She said a shirred, sleeveless dress with gem accents, a button-down top with electric pleated bodice and ribbon ties, a three-fourths-sleeved surplice top, a surplice pleated dress and a Mandarin-collared top would also look good on Inverted Triangle types while a neckerchief dress with buttondown back would also be a knockout on Rectangle and Triangle types.
Exuding an aura of casual elegance and effortless sophistication, Gonzalez is a perfect fit for ForMe’s “personally-shaped” system. She admits to being a fan of local fashion brands long before she became identified with ForMe. “In fact, I do my shopping here as I realized our clothes are more customized for our own Asian body types as compared to those available abroad,” she reveals. “Just about the only things I buy abroad are shoes but that’s only because I’m a size 10, which are almost always never available locally.”
Gonzalez, wife of equally celebrated actor Aga Muhlach and a mother of two, admits that her own hourglass figure is the result of an active lifestyle that includes a regimen of gym, running and wakeboarding (her husband’s current favorite pastime) in combination with a well-balanced diet.
She says that while she found the designs of ForMe to be very impressive, she is open to having a more creative input in future collections. Like her own designed collection, perhaps? “I’d like that,” she enthuses. “In fact, the dress I’m wearing for this launch is a result of my little collaboration with ForMe. Taking my input into consideration, they were able to design something that exactly fits my body. And this will also be soon available in ForMe stores.”
