'Amihan' persists; may bring light rains in Luzon, Visayas
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Saturday, Jan. 13 said the northeast monsoon or "amihan" may bring light rains to Luzon and parts of Visayas in the next 24 hours.

In PAGASA's 4 a.m. live broadcast, weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said amihan continued to strengthen and is now affecting all parts of Luzon and areas in Visayas.
PAGASA said Mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Bicol Region, and Western Visayas will have cloudy skies with light rains, while Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to "amihan."
Meanwhile, the shear line---a weather system where the cold northeasterly winds and warm easterlies converge---may bring cloudy skies and scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Surigao del Norte, and Dinagat Islands.
PAGASA said flash floods or landslides in times of moderate to heavy rains may occur in the affected areas.
Moreover, the rest of Mindanao may also experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by the localized thunderstorms.
The public was also warned to be vigilant of flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
