Storm 'Labuyo' floods Negros towns
BACOLOD CITY (PNA) – Tropical storm "Labuyo” has caused flooding in four towns of Negros Occidental displacing some 1,529 persons.
Labuyo is the first of three tropical cyclones expected to hit the country this month.
It entered the Philippine area of responsibility as a tropical depression last Wednesday evening and developed into a tropical storm Thursday morning.
The Provincial Disaster Management Team (PDMT) report identified the affected areas as the municipalities of San Enrique, Valladolid, and Pontevedra and La Carlota City.
Relief assistance has been distributed to the affected families, according to the PDMT report.
Weather forecast by PAGASA sees the tropical storm to be at 590 kilometers east northeast of Tuguegarao City and at some 400 kilometers east southeast of Basco, Batanes by this Saturday
morning.
