Leaders of the Freedom Peace and Justice Movement (FPJM) on Tuesday appealed to Mary Grace Poe-Llamanzares, daughter of the late movie king Fernando Poe Jr. who lost in the presidential race in 2004, to throw her support to Benigo “Noynoy” Aquino III to fulfill her father’s dream of installing in Malacañang an honest, credible and competent leader that will pursue reforms and improve the country’s depressing state.

“I am urging Mary Grace to support Noynoy instead of other presidential wanabees since the young Aquino stands for integrity, good governance and competence just like the traits of FPJ,” FPJM national chairman MannyPortes said in a telephone interview.

“Let’s stop these petty bickerings and just support a single candidate who can promote the political ideals of her father,” Portes added.

Mary Grace, who is reportedly identified with the Filipinos for Peace, Justice and Prosperity (FPJPM) under, criticized the FPJM group for using her father’s name for their alleged selfish political interests.

She actively campaigned for FPJ during the May 2004 presidential derby, also downplayed the role of the FPJM during that election season, claiming that it failed to deliver what it promised to ensure the victory of the late movie idol.

Another group — the FPJ Volunteers Movement led by actor Rex Cortez — also lambasted the FPJM for causing divisiveness among the supporters of Fernando Poe Jr. with their declaration of support for Noynoy.
