Actor John Lloyd Cruz believes the storyline of “In My Life,” and not his kissing scene with Luis Manzano, is the selling point of the movie.

“The story we’re offering is really beautiful and new -- different,” he said proudly.

Cruz added that he understands why people seem to be so curious about him locking lips with another male actor.

“It was an intimate scene and very emotional. (Still), I want audiences to transcend (the physicality of the kiss) and see the emotions we’re trying to convey.”

When prodded to elaborate on the scene, Cruz backtracked and said it wasn’t much of a kiss to begin with.

“It’s hard to explain. I can’t call it an actual kiss but…it’s as if our lips just ‘brushed’ against each other,” he said, smiling sheepishly.

So how does it feel to ‘brush lips’ with Luis?

“It was so…liberating. After doing the scene, I felt I could conquer anything.”

It didn’t feel icky at all to kiss Manzano, he said, as he was in character at the time and thought of Manzano then as "his lover."

“I decided to just look at him as Mark (Manzano’s character in the movie). When I look at him as Mark, I look at him with love and I see my love and that’s how we did it.”
