IMUS CITY, Cavite---Five more coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases were reported in this capital city, bringing the total number to 12, authorities disclosed on Sunday, March 29.
The City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) reported that four of the five latest cases involved four senior citizens, with one of them dying recently.
The number of COVID-19 deaths in Imus is now two, the other was an 89-year-old resident.
"Umakyat na sa labindalawa (12) ang pangkalahatang bilang ng mga nagpositibo sa COVID-199 sa Imus," Mayor Emmanuel Leonardo Maliksi said as he confirmed the total cases in his Facebook message posted Sunday morning. (The number of CoVID-19 has climbed to total of 12.)
Maliksi, citing CESU report, said that the five cases recorded in Imus involved a 60-year-old female from Barangay Carsadang Bago II, who was confined in a hospital in Cavite; a 62-year-old male from Tanzang Luma IV, who died before getting the result of his test; a 55-year-old male from Pasong Buaya II, who is confined in an Imus hospital; a 62-year-old male from Pag-asa II; and a 62-year-old female also from Pag-asa II, both are confined in a hospital in Taguig City.
In his message, Maliksi called on the citizens to take extra-caution and follow the guidelines set up under the EECQ particularly the call to stay at home always, observe hygienic distancing, sanitation and other measures as protection against the CoVID-19.
“Masusugpo lamang ang pagkalat ng virus kung lilimitahan natin ang paggalaw. Para sa inyong kaligtasan, manatili sa inyong tahanan, Maliksi said. (The virus can be averted only if we can limit movements. For one’s safety, stay at home.)
