Bureau of Immigration operatives have arrested an alleged American fugitive who has been overstaying in the Philippines for almost eight years in a follow-up operation on Roxas Boulevard in Ermita, Manila.
The arrest was made upon the request of US authorities in Manila, as Jason Clint Reed's passport had already been revoked by the State Department.
Based on BI's record, Reed is wanted by authorities in Texas.
Reed arrived in Manila on November 27, 2014, and had not left or extended his stay since then.
In 2015, a district court in Jefferson County, Texas issued a warrant for his arrest on charges of improper photo and visual recording, which involves photographing, recording, or broadcasting a person's intimate areas without his consent.
If convicted, Reed could face imprisonment of up to two years and a fine of up to US$10,000.
Reed is currently detained at the BI warden facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City, awaiting deportation proceedings.
