Ford Phils. bags fleet sale to Indon police
Ford Group Philippines (FGP) has completed the largest-ever fleet sales order to Ford Motor Indonesia (FMI), exporting a total of 577 Philippine-made Ford Focus units for the Indonesian National Police Force as part of its 2009 fleet program.
“This fleet-purchase to Indonesia is significant for FMCP as it points to the success of our export business. It is also a testament to the world-class craftsmanship and dedication of Ford’s Filipino workforce which enabled these vehicles to earn such successes,” said Ford Group Philippines
President Rick Baker.
FGP is the first and only volume exporter of CBU vehicles in the Philippines. The American carmaker assembles cars at its Santa Rosa, Laguna plant. Exports currently account for roughly half of FGP’s total production volume. As of end of August, cumulative exports number over 62,500 Ford and Mazda vehicles, with an export value of more than $800 million.
"We are delighted with the progress of our CBU export program in light of this year’s more challenging environment,” said Baker.
FGP exports Ford Focus, Ford Escape, Mazda3, and Mazda Tribute vehicles to ASEAN markets including Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia since 2002.
