Sabado Boys member Luke Mejares did not comment on the latest incident that happened at Star City amusement park where its Zyklon Loop rollercoaster stopped in mid-air, except to say that it will never happen to him.

“That’s because I won’t try out the rides—I’m afraid of heights!” he told Manila Bulletin Entertainment Online in an exclusive interview.

Luke, Jolina Magdangal and Kris Lawrence were at Star City on Sept. 18, a couple of days before the incident took place. Luke was invited to unveil the park’s newest action-adventure arena called Lazer Blaster where players can participate in an interactive laser tag game.

The R&B singer added that Star Parks Corporation officials invited him to some of the rides after the launch but he declined because he had to leave for a corporate show.

“They gave me lots of ride-all-you-can tags. I will give those to my friends not because I’m affected with what happened at Star City, but because I don’t have the guts to give their rides—or of any amusement park’s— a spin. Likas na matatakutin ako when it comes to leaving the ground,” he said in Filipino.

A Star City press release claims that the park has the most number of roller coaster rides in the country including The Wacky Dragon, Blizzard, the Worm and the country’s first inverted roller coaster, Star Flyer.

Another Star City attraction that they trumpet is Snow World which “does not use any ozone–depleting refrigerants nor other chemicals harmful to the environment” for it is “15-degrees-below-zero temperature.”

Apart from gracing openings, taping for Sabado Boys (aired on Studio 23, Sundays, 11:30 a.m.) and performing in corporate shows, Luke is compiling songs for his forthcoming, all-original CD that is set for release by end of this year. He has solicited materials from Sabado Boys’ Jimmy Bondoc and Top Suzara, as well as from True Faith front man, Medwin Marfil.

Luke’s most recent album titled “Pangako” was released in 2007. He said that the forthcoming one will have more pop/ballad songs embellished with his signature R&B vocal styling.

He recently bagged a Best R&B Artist trophy from the Radio Music Awards, besting other nominees Jay-R, Kyla and Nina. Luke also held a repeat of his 2008 tribute concert to Michael Jackson at Music Museum last July 31, 2009.
