Rachelle Ann, Jed depend on vocal harmony and power in ‘True Champions’

Rachelle Ann Go and Jed Madela will rely on vocal harmony and their power pipes to pull through “True Champions,” a concert that pairs the two belters for the first time. The show happens on Oct. 24 at the Skydome of SM North EDSA in Quezon City.
We were thinking what else could another experimental tandem bring the audience? But once Rachelle and Jed stepped into performing mode, we got the answer we needed.
At the press launch for the said concert, Rachelle and Jed performed “Narito,” the Gary Valenciano original made into a poignant duet. We have seen Rachelle and Jed performing many times but it seems like they literally make beautiful music together.
It was rumored in the past that Jed competed for Rachelle’s heart when they were still starting in the business. As history had it, Christian Bautista won the singer’s heart at the time. So when Jed performed the very moving lyrics of “Narito,” he did seem to be telling Rachelle “Puso ko’y narito... Naghihintay sa pag-ibig mo... Ikaw lamang ang inaasam.”
The members of the entertainment press who remained at the venue to see the two sing together got their time’s worth when Rachelle and Jed exploded into emotional vocal symmetry. One would think that singers like these two only know how to belt songs but when we saw them, it was like a preview of the treat fans would be in for come concert night.
Prior to performing, Jed said to the media that they did not rehearse the number to which Rachelle reacted, “Good luck to us.” Then again they did not practice the particular number.
“True Champions” will feature more songs that will remind us of how reliable Rachelle and Jed are as performers. Both have won numerous awards for their brand of performance. Rachelle was named First Prize winner in the “Search For A Star” singing contest before she bagged that Silver Trophy at the Shanghai Music Festival.
Meanwhile, Jed is known for winning the grand prize at the World Championship of the Performing Arts in Los Angeles where his performance triumphed from some 3,000 other representatives from 52 countries.
“True Champions” is sponsored by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), the Manila Bulletin, MYX, PBO, Viva Prime, Viva Cinema, 90.7 Love Radio, 96.3 Easy Rock, 93.9 IFM, and 101.1 Yes FM.
