Shell cuts prices of gasoline, diesel
Major oil player Pilipinas Shell has enforced its fourth fuel price cutback this month, shedding P1 off every liter of gasoline and 50 centavos off each liter of diesel.
The rollback, which took effect at 6 p.m. Monday, came in the aftermath of tropical storm Ondoy’s wrath that left most of Luzon swamped in flood.
In addition to the rollback on pump, Shell Spokesperson Bobby Kanapi also assured that all the prices of their lubricants being sold at Shell retail stations nationwide would not be hiked until the end of October so as to help consumers get through these trying times.
Other oil companies were yet to announce a rollback of their own as of press time, although they would surely follow suit as they have done so in the past weeks whenever a rival firm initiates a price movement.
Monday’s price cut was also the fourth in as many weeks by an oil firm. This means that since September, retail price for gasoline has dropped by P2.50 while those of diesel and kerosene have fallen by P2.
Shell currently sells gasoline (unleaded) at P36.25 per liter; diesel, P26.50 per liter and kerosene, P37.75 per liter.
Shell, along with fellow oil giant Petron Corp., served as more than just fuel dispensers last Sunday when it assisted authorities in the ongoing rescue and relief efforts of Ondoy’s victims.
Both companies opened their service stations to accept donations such as food, clothes and money, which were then doled out to the affected families through coordination with the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC).
“We have mobilized our employees to prepare relief goods that will be distributed to typhoon victims. We have provided Gasulites (LPG-powered lights) for areas without electricity,” Petron said in a statement.
