PH Red Cross, BTS' Jungkook fan group partner for bloodletting activity
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) partnered with BTS member Jeon Jungkook's fan group Borahae From Manila (BFM) to celebrate his upcoming birthday on Sept. 1, through a bloodletting activity at its National Headquarters in Mandaluyong City.

The PRC said in a statement on Sunday, Aug. 27, that the bloodletting activity generated "169 blood units of blood from ARMYs and their families."
“We want to fangirl meaningfully, and this is one of our ways to do so,” said Joan De Venecia-Fabul, one of the founders of BFM.
De Venecia-Fabul, a lawyer, said the Philippine Red Cross is an organization to "trust for such a big endeavor."
"We want to make sure that every drop of blood we donate will be given to the intended beneficiaries," she said. "The PRC has the manpower, equipment, and resources to make it happen,” she added.
De Venecia-Fabul also underscored that the success of the event in the preceding year has propelled the fan group to continue the initiative with the PRC by saving lives through blood donations.
As this is the second time they have teamed up for this initiative, the chairman expressed his gratitude to BFM and the donors for their contributions.
“Similar to BFM, the majority of PRC’s activities are operated by thousands of individuals who donate their time and resources to help the people,” PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Gordon said.
“Indeed, those who share the same values and advocacy have a natural inclination to work together and make a difference,” Gordon added.
As per PRC’s data from Jan. 1 to Aug. 25, 2023, the organization served 158,316 patients needing blood products in its over a hundred blood service facilities nationwide.
Meanwhile, Secretary-General Dr. Gwen Pang urged everyone to participate in the PRC's regular blood donation drives. (Rhowen del Rosario)
