9 firefighters hurt in accident on their way to respond to Parañaque fire
Nine firefighters were hurt in a road accident while on their way to respond to a fire incident in Hontiveros Compound, Fourth Estate Subdivision, Barangay San Antonio, Parañaque City on Thursday afternoon, May 18.
According to the report of the Parañaque Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP), the nine firefighters were thrown off their truck when the driver reportedly avoided a motorcycle rider, causing the truck to hit the center island of the road.
The victims were treated at the Ospital ng Paranaque.
The city police chief, Col. Renato Ocampo, said the fire occurred at the third floor of the house of certain Vicente Renelle at around 12:40 p.m.
Ocampo said houses in the area were made of light materials, which caused the fire to immediately spread.
He said the fire reached to fourth alarm and was placed under control at around 3:04 p.m.
The city police chief said 300 families were affected by the incident and placed the damage to P750,000.
The fire was declared out at around 7:34 p.m.
