Mayor Lani Mercado apologizes for 'COVID-14' mistake

(Screenshot from Senator Bong Revilla Jr's Facebook Live video / MANILA BULLETIN) In a Facebook Live video of Mercado’s husband, Senator Bong Revilla Jr. on April 13, the mayor poked fun at herself for slip-up. “Sa mga natuwa sa aking pagkakamali ‘labanan ang COVID-14,’ sorry po talaga, madami po talagang iniisip pero sorry po sa mga nagagalit,” Mercado said. “Wag na kayong magalit tapos na Mahal na Araw, bawal na pala magkamali ang mga alkalde. Tao lang po, pasensya,” she added. Mercado meanwhile said the local government of Bacoor is doing its best to overcome the challenges brought about by coronavirus pandemic. “We all pray na sana mahanap na po talaga ang lunas sa COVD-19,” she added. The Bacoor mayor also thanked those who have shown appreciation for her work for the city.#
