For agri people, all roads lead starting Thursday to the World Trade Center Metro Manila at the corner of Gil Puyat Avenue and Diosdado Macapagal Blvd. in Pasay City. This is where the Agrilink 2009 is being held up to Saturday, October 10.

Agrilink is the much awaited agribusiness extravaganza which started inauspiciously as Piglink in Davao City some 16 years ago. It was subsequently transferred to Manila as Agrilink under the auspices of the Foundation for Resource Linkage and Development now headed by Antonio V. Roces. In due time, two major sectors, food and fisheries, were incorporated as Foodlink and Aqualink.

More than 250 key players in agriculture, food and fisheries are participating in the exhibits of products, technology and services that range from farm crops, machinery and equipment, animal health products, organic produce, hybrid seeds, free-range chickens as well as the traditional industrial chickens, and many more.

The key players in the fast-emerging small ruminants industry are there in full force, comprising the Federation of Goat and Sheep Producers Associations. Prominent among them is the Alaminos Goat Farm which is slated to conduct this afternoon a tasting of the chevon longanisa and other products developed by the Animal Products Development Center of the Bureau of Animal Industry. Larry Miculob of Davao City also tells us that he will be making available his different varieties of durian at the outdoor exhibit center.

Aside from getting a rundown of the latest developments in agriculture, food and fisheries, the attendees will be able to meet interesting personalities, new friends as well as old acquaintances. See you at the Agrilink!
