A strong rush of “amihan” or northeast monsoon winds will prevail across most of Luzon including Metro Manila over the weekend.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the amihan could bring cloudy skies with scattered light rains to Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Aurora, and the rest of Quezon.
Occasional to frequent gusts especially in mountainous and coastal areas are likely, the weather bureau said.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light amihan rains and intermittent wind gusts especially in mountainous and coastal areas.
Meanwhile, the intertropical convergence zone could bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms to Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental, South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, Maguindanao, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-tawi.
The tail-end of the cold front or the boundary between cold amihan and warm easterlies could bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms to Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Masbate, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and southern Quezon.
The rest of the country could experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA warned that severe thunderstorms may occur during late afternoon or early evening and could trigger flash floods over low-lying areas or landslides over mountainous regions.
