‘Magdusa Ka,’ nominee in the 37th International Emmy Awards

GMA Network's “Magdusa Ka,” one of the remarkable series of the phenomenal afternoon block, Sine Novela, has been nominated at the prestigious 37th International Emmy Awards early October.

Out of the hundreds of entries, the Philippines’ “Magdusa Ka” will be competing with the nominees from countries such as France and India in the Best Telenovela category.

With internationally acclaimed director Maryo J. Delos Reyes at the helm, the compelling drama of “Magdusa Ka” was topbilled by award-winning actor Dennis Trillo, Katrina Halili, and Iwa Moto. “Magdusa Ka” aired in May 2008 on GMA-7.

“Magdusa Ka” has proven to be one of the country’s notable and well-celebrated masterpieces that garnered recognitions here and abroad. As a film, “Magdusa Ka” won numerous awards from various film organizations such as the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP), Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) and Urian in 1986. As a TV series, the soap holds the record of having the highest pilot rating in a daytime series and now a contender in the International Emmy Awards.

Realizing that excellence is an ongoing thrive for improvement, GMA Network adapted this Pablo Gomez classic and convinced its most talented artists into bold transformations. Using the modern time as background while still retaining the substance of the classic drama, GMA-7’s adaptation was to no surprise heralded internationally.
