Fil-Am woman stages 'SuperYou the Musical' at exclusive club in New York

By Roy Mabasa  A Filipino-American has staged a self-created musical play entitled “SuperYou the Musical” at the exclusive The Players Club in Gramercy Park, New York City. Lourds Lane, daughter of a Filipino immigrant, is behind the SuperYou the Musical, a story about a comic book artist who learns to love herself when her superheroine creations who are all aspects of herself, come to life. With inspirational songs like “Don’t Wait Create,” “I will Start the Fire Now” and “We are Awake,” the musical is the journey of a female comic book artist, who reignites the superhero in her by encountering her superheroine creations. “A Broadway-bound game-changer…Finally, there is a happy ending that shows girls how to fall in love with themselves,” said the Huffington Post in a recent review it posted on its online platform. According to her bio, Lane was a classically-trained prodigy on violin and piano at age 3 and graduated from Harvard University with honors. She has toured with youth orchestras and played in concert halls around the world. Lane created SuperYou The Musical as an offshoot of her non-profit organization, “The SuperYouFUNdation,” which she founded in 2013. This organization has been working with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to incorporate the program into its global curriculum. Putting “fun” in this foundation is the “SuperYou Curriculum,” which uses the “language of superheroes” to inspire children to feel empowered and to use their “superhero powers” to help make a difference in their respective communities.
