Cloudy skies with at times heavy rains will likely prevail across most of Luzon and parts of Visayas due to the prevalence of the northeast monsoon or "amihan" over the country on Sunday.
(PAGASA/ MANILA BULLETIN)
PAGASA said the "amihan" could bring scattered light to moderate with occasional heavy rains over Aurora, Quezon, Marinduque, Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Albay, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Sorsogon, Masbate, Abra, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, and Apayao.
The weather bureau advised the public to take precautions against possible flash floods or landslides due to at times heavy monsoon rains.
Metro Manila, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and Rizal will likely to continue to experience cloudy skies and light rains due to the "amihan."
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light "amihan" rains may also affect the rest of Luzon, Biliran, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Northern Samar, Samar, and Southern Leyte.
Meanwhile, Mindanao and the rest of Visayas may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers from localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA advised the public that the occurrence of severe thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening could also trigger possible flash floods or landslides in Visayas and Mindanao.
Angat Dam level rises
The dam's water level rose by 0.58 meters on Sunday after monsoon rains poured over Metro Manila and other areas in the past few days.
As of 6 a.m. Sunday, the water level at Angat Dam increased from 202.20 meters to 202.78 meters, although it was still below the reservoir's 212-meter normal high water level.
Gale warning still up
PAGASA noted that a gale warning remains in effect on Sunday due to rough to very rough seas triggered by the surge of the northeast monsoon.
Fishing boats and small sea crafts were advised not to set sail into the northern and eastern coasts of Northern Luzon, eastern seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon, and eastern coastlines of Visayas.
Meanwhile, larger sea vessels should remain alert against big waves.
