The Las Pinas City government came out with an ordinance prohibiting the sale, purchase, delivery and consumption of liquor during the period of enhanced community quarantine and imposing penalties.
Mayor Imelda Aguilar said that for the duration of enhanced quarantine, all business establishments such as restaurant bars, clubs, hotels, retail and sari-sari stores, supermarkets, and other establishments in the city are strictly prohibited to sell, serve, and deliver alcoholic beverages, and every person is prohibited from purchasing from said establishment liquors, wine, beer, beverages mixed with liquor, and other intoxicating products.
Aguilar also said that the ordinance also prohibits persons to appear, traverse, or loiter in public places within the jurisdiction of the city while under the influence of liquor.
She said that any person or business establishments found violation the ordinance will be penalized with a fine of P5,000 or imprisonment of not less than 3 months, or both at the discretion of the court.
The mayor added that as an additional measure, establishments who violate the liquor ban shall have their business permits and licenses to operate suspended or cancelled.
