POLOMOLOK, South Cotabato – Police authorities are eyeing politics as the reason behind the killing of a village councilor who was waylaid by motorcycle-riding gunmen in Barangay Lumakil here over the weekend.
Supt. Samuel Cadungon, Polomolok police chief, said Dima Macaludos, barangay councilor of Lumakil , was driving his motorcycle together with his wife, Rohania when they were attacked by two unidentified suspects riding in tandem on a motorcycle in Purok Maguindanao, Barangay Lumakil .
He said the victim succumbed to a gunshot from a .45 caliber pistol, while his wife was also hit in the leg.
“The suspects tailed the victims and one of the gunmen shot them from behind using a .45 caliber pistol,” Cadungon said.
Police said the victim who chairs the committee on peace and order had been very active in the campaign against illegal drugs in their village.
