P2-million jewelry lost in posh village robbery
A resident of a posh subdivision in Quezon City lost almost P2 million worth of jewelry during a theft at her home last Monday afternoon.
Inspector Edgar Enopia, chief of the theft and robbery investigation section of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), identified the complainant as Pilar Ataydey, 68, of No. 25 Luna St., Corinthian Village, Quezon City.
Enopia said that the complainant appeared at his office to report about the theft at her home believed to have taken place Monday afternoon.
Ataydey reported to have lost a diamond necklace worth around P500,000; diamond bracelet, P250,000; gold watch with diamonds, P250,000; two gold bangles, P148,000; and other pieces of jewelry amounting to P600,000.
Ataydey recalled that she left home at around 5 p.m. Monday, leaving behind her two maids and her 20-year-old grandson, who was sleeping in his room at that time.
When she returned at around 9 p.m. the same day, she was surprised to see the drawer of the table inside the master bedroom in disarray and the jewelry already missing.
One of the maids, a certain Elvie Bandigan, said that the drawer was already opened when she went to the bedroom to clean the area at about 5:10 p.m. (Jeffrey G. Damicog)
