SSC spikers gun for 5th NCAA title
Games on Thursday (EAC Gym)

2 p.m. – Letran vs SBC (men finals)
4 p.m. – SSC-R vs CSB (women finals)
San Sebastian coach Roger Gorayeb believes consistency will be the key in completing an amazing “five-peat” in the NCAA volleyball tournament this Thursday at the Emilio Aguinaldo Gym.
The SSC lady spikers squeaked past the College of St. Benilde Lady Blazers in Game 1 of their best-of-three finals series last Sunday, 20-25, 25-21, 22-25, 25-19,16-14, but the multi-titled mentor was unhappy with the win because of their error-prone plays.
“We committed so many errors in Game One. I think we really need to minimize it in Game Two to have a good chance of winning it,” said Gorayeb, whose wards surrendered 37 points to CSB on errors alone. CSB had 30 errors.
Game Two is set at 4 p.m., with the CSB spikers hoping to finally pull off an upset against a team that beat them twice in the past two finals duels.
The hard-hitting Joy Benito, who keyed SSC’s comeback from 2-8 down in the deciding set last time, is expected anew to lead the LSSC lasses, who are actually gunning for their 23rd title overall.
Meantime, Letran guns for a “three-peat” in the men’s division when it battles San Beda College at 2 p.m. in Game Two of their best-of-three finals in the men’s division.
The Knights, who were put on the brink of elimination after a 2-4 card in the first round, thumped the Lions, 25-23, 17-25, 11-25, 25-23, 19-17, in Game One also last Sunday.
In juniors action, Perpetual Help shoots for its first-ever crown when it collides with San Sebastian at 11 a.m. in Game Two of their best-of-three finals. The Altalettes blasted the Staglets, 25-19, 21-25, 25-21, 25-20, in Game One.
