FG Mike’s PLM Medical Scholars all pass the board exams

“At the moment of death, we will not be judged according to the number of good deeds we have done, or the diplomas we have received in our lifetime. We will be judged according to the love we have put in our work.”
— Blessed Mother Teresa
Healer priest Fr. Joey Faller will be at the Kerygma Conference 2009 which will be held in Cebu City on Nov. 28-29. This will be held simultaneously with the Kerygma Conference in Manila at the Araneta Coliseum, according to the Light of the Jesus Family, organizers of the biggest Catholic learning events.
The Kerygma Conference started as prayer rallies and is now on its third successful year. Kerygma is the 20-year-old Catholic magazine founded by lay evangelist, Bro. Bo Sanchez. The conference will offer Holy Masses, lively worship sessions, powerful, life-changing talks and a healing service.
The theme for this year’s Kerygma Conference is “Dream Big, Win Big” and will show God as a Big God, more powerful than any problem or pain. The healing session at Araneta will be led by international healer, Bro. Bob Canton.
Fr. Faller is from Lucban, Quezon and was ordained a priest in Lucena City on Sept. 9, 1989. He graduated cum laude from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Seminary in Sariaya, Quezon, cum laude from the St. Francis de Salas Seminary in Lipa City finishing his revalida summa cum laude, and finished his comprehensive exam magna cum laude from the St. Alphonsus Regional Seminary in Lucena.
He embraced the healing ministry on April 8, 1994 after many people were healed by his touch. He was too humble at first to accept that he had an extraordinary gift. But an accident left his small finger and the index finger of his right hand damaged and an operation to straighten his fingers was unsuccessful. He then realized that his damaged fingers resembled the hands of the Niño Jesus in an attitude of extending his right hand in blessing. He realized then that his healings were not his but Jesus’ and he was but an instrument.
He founded the ministry “Kamay ni Hesus” which has constructed a healing center, a church and a renewal center for the Diocese of Lucena. I met him personally only recently and he impressed me with his humility and sincerity in serving Jesus through his gift.

'No More Barrios Without Doctors'
This is the battle cry of the young medical scholars of the First Gentleman Foundation, Inc. (FGFI) as all 15 scholars, 10 from the University of the Philippines (UP) and five from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) who recently took the Physician Licensure Examination, scored a hundred percent passing rate. This marks the second year all scholars of the FGFI passed the exams after the first batch of 20 successfully hurdled the same in 2008.
It was Dr. James Salisi of UP who invoked the message, in his response statement during the luncheon hosted by the foundation. It was also addressed to the challenge issued by former Senator and Secretary of Health Juan Flavier in 2006, “Go to the barrios and serve the people.”
Sen. Flavier had then informed FG Jose Miguel Arroyo that there were 181 underserved barrios in the Philippines without doctors. FGFI Executive Director Juris Umali-Soliman had wondered: “What can we do to fill up the lack? It seemed impossible!”
Yet today, the scholars number a total of 180 and the First Gentleman committed to continue the foundation’s work even after President Gloria Macapagal’s term is over. It was FG’s dream to become a doctor but he bowed to his parents’ wish for him to become a lawyer instead, and today, he finds the greatest realization of that dream in his brood of successful and hardworking scholars.
Time and again, FG had exhorted the doctors that while they look back to him in gratitude, they can repay the full scholarship assistance they had received by serving as many people as they could in their capacities as healers.
This message was given full meaning when Dr. Debbie Yao of PLM stood to deliver her short speech. Dr. Yao thanked God, acknowledging their scholarship was a journey of trust and faith. She then thanked the First Gentleman, the parents and the teachers for their continuing strong support of the scholars.
