PMAAAI declares Tulfo persona non grata

(YouTube / MANILA BULLETIN) The PMAAAI, in a resolution released June 10, said Tulfo violated R.A. 10175, also known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, and the Revised Penal Code, when he "viciously maligned" Bautista with "foul, offensive and derogatory language". The association added that Tulfo's tongue-lashing against the DSWD chief in his radio program "Tutok Tulfo" for failing to respond to a live interview request was "contrary" to the Broadcast Code of the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas and the Journalist's Code of Ethics of the National Press Club. "These libelous language of Mr. Tulfo, effectively and assiduously erodes the "faith and trust in government" by the Filipino people, which President Rodrigo Roa Duterte referred to in his inaugural speech on June 30, 2016, as the ‘real problem that confronts is’ - more serious than "corruption, both in high and low echelon of government, criminality in the streets, and the rampant sale of illegal drugs," the resolution read. The PMAAAI also strongly condemned Tulfo's "boorish behavior and derogatory remarks" which "spilled over the ranks of the active and retired officers, men and women of the MUP thereby assailing the very core of service to country and people of which the PMAAAI squarely stands for." The association, meanwhile, described Bautista as a "man of honor and of known probity" and "whose demeanor and service to this Republic are worthy of emulation". With PMAAAI's resolution, Tulfo will be "disposed of the privileges and courtesies granted to responsible media practitioners in activities participated by the PMAAAI or any of its chapter members and affiliate organizations. "The PMAAAI general membership shall be strongly enjoined to unequivocally abide by the Resolution and shall report forthwith any breach of these conditions for immediate and corresponding administrative sanction/s," the resolution read. The resolution was approved by the PMAAAI board of directors on June 7, 2019, during a special meeting at the AFPCOC, Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City. It was signed by PMAAAI chairman and CEO, Retired Major General Rufo De Veyra, and PMAAAI president and COO, PCol. Arthur Bisnar.
