IMUS CITY, Cavite – It seems that not even police officers could be sure that their residences are safe from the long arm of “akyat-bahay (house robbery)” suspects.
This was what Pat. Walter Addun Panaga, 30, found out after he lost his service firearm, cash and other valuables amounting to P55,000 to thieves who broke into his house Sunday night.
A police report said Panaga’s residence located in Block 6, Lot 68, Phase 3, Greenstate Extension, Barangay
Malagasang I-G was burglarized by still unknown suspects while the policeman and his wife were out.
Panaga reported that he and his wife only discovered the burglary when they arrived home at 12:10 a.m. on Monday, June 24.
The policeman said that they found the gate of their house opened and its padlocked destroyed when they arrived.
He reported that their room was in disarray, and found the drawer opened with P11,500 in cash, a necklace worth P4,000, two cell phones, a computer tablet and notebook and his .9mm Glock pistol and 16 bullets missing.
The initial police report showed that the robbery may have taken place from the time Panaga and his wife left the house on Sunday to go to church and just before they arrived home.
Panaga and the police investigators are now looking into the "akyat-bahay" incident.
