The number of coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) patients in Manila breached the 500-mark after 27 new cases were reported Wednesday evening.

There are now a total of 519 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city, Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso announced.
Sampaloc leads other districts with 108 confirmed COVID-19 cases, the only district in the city with over a hundred cases as of this writing.
The entire Sampaloc district will be placed under hard lockdown at 8 p.m. on Thursday until 8 p.m. on Saturday.
The Philippine capital also has 54 COVID-19-related deaths and 62 recoveries, the Manila mayor said.
Testing capacity
As of Wednesday afternoon, a total of 2,254 swab tests have been conducted by health workers of the city government and the six district hospitals in Manila, Domagoso bared.
Meanwhile, Dr. Aileen Lacsamana, hospital director of the Ospital ng Sampaloc, said five rapid antibody testing centers will be set up at the Geronimo Elementary School, which will later be converted into a massive testing facility.
A temporary holding area will also be set up for those who will test positive and will be advised to undergo swab test and quarantine.
Domagoso also said that they received 1,000 rapid test kits from the Cebuana Lhuiller Foundation, Inc. that will help in boosting the city government's efforts in conducting mass testing.
Earlier, the local chief executivemsaid the city government partnered with private organizations to conduct rapid COVID-19 testing in Manila.
