Basia to hold concert at the Big Dome

October 20, 2009, 3:36pm

All roads lead to Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday night, Oct. 21, 8 p.m., as Polish singer-songwriter Basia takes centerstage in her concert “Basia: Live in Manila.”

Basia is the voice behind the hit songs “Half A Minute” (with the group Matt Bianco), “Tide And Tide,” “Cruising for Bruising,” “New Day for You,” “Promises,” to mention a few. She is famous for her trademark Latin-flavoured jazz-pop crossover songs during the late 1980s and early 1990s, particularly in the U.S., the U.K., France, and Japan.

Basia released top-selling albums like “Time And Tide,” “London Warsaw New York,” “The Sweetest Illusion,” “Basia on Broadway” and “Clear Horizon: The Best of Basia.” “It’s That Girl Again” is her latest studio album. Although each song in the album is a dedication to someone in her life, her narratives describe characters many can relate to.

The country’s premier vocal group, The CompanY, will do the front act in Basia' show. The CompanY is composed of Annie Quintos, Moy Ortiz, Cecile Bautista, Sweet Plantado and Jay Marquez.

“Basia: Live in Manila” is presented by 105.1 Crossover, in cooperation with ABS-CBN.
