By Minka Klaudia Tiangco Valenzuela City Mayor Rexlon "Rex" Gatchalian took to Twitter and blasted the officials of the Valenzuela Medical Center (VMC) for their "poor management of the hospital" Sunday. "Matagal ko na sila pinupush na ayusin sistema nila. Pero kaysa magbago, nagalit pa sa akin ang management nila. Hindi ko sila kasundo dahil sa ganyan nila na sistema (I have long been pushing them to fix their system. But instead of changing, they're management became angry with me. I am not in good terms with them because of their system)," he said in a tweet. "Mga walang pakialam at malasakit mga tao doon. Pati Department of Health sinabihan ko na, pero walang galaw (They have no care or compassion for their patients. I even told the Department of Health about this, but there has been no action regarding it)," he added. This came after a concerned citizen tagged Gatchalian in a series of screenshots, narrating how a doctor at VMC allegedly committed medical malpractice. A certain Khissessprinces Dolores Delacruz said she brought her six-year-old daughter to VCM for an operation. During the follow up check ups, the doctor allegedly appeared dismissive about the pain that her daughter felt and the seemingly worsening condition of her wound. Delacruz then brought her daughter to a private hospital where it was found that her daughter will be needing another operation to prevent infection from spreading to her intestines. "Wala na sa isip namin ibalik sa ospital na 'yan anak namin, baka sa hospital na 'yan, mamatay pa 'yung anak ko (I am not thinking of bringing my daughter back to VCM, because my child might die in that hospital)," she said in her Facebook post. "Sana may makatulong po saamin, kahit share niyo lang po para mabigyan ng leksyon 'yang doktor na 'yan, kasi mas marami pang bata o pasyente ang manganganib ang buhay sa ospital na 'yan, kawawa naman po sila (I hope someone will help us and share this post so that that doctor will be taught a lesson. There are many children and patients whose lives will be in danger in that hospital, I pity them)," she added. However, Gatchalian said he cannot do much about the situation because VMC was not a city hall-owned hospital, but a hospital of the DOH. The city mayor encouraged netizens to lodge their complaints against VMC at the DOH.
