2 die, 3 hurt in collision

SAN FELIPE, Zambales — Two died while three others were seriously injured when an ambulance collided with a tricycle Thursday in this town. Teodoro Simon Jr., 25, a resident of Barangay Manglicmot, was declared dead on arrival at the Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Hospital in Iba, Zambales, where he was taken after the collision. The name of the other fatality, a 3-year-old, was withheld. Seriously injured were Myrna Fajotina and two of her children, namely: 16-year-old Kristen and 1-year-old Simon Earl. Police said that at about 3 p.m. while Simon was driving Fajotina and her children in a tricycle along the national highway toward Iba, Simon overtook a vehicle in front of him. Murder suspect nabbed in Abra

BANGUED, Abra — Combined police operatives here arrested one of the suspects in the murder of the legal officer of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, in his hideout in Barangay Siblong, Bucay town recently. The arrest of the suspected hired killer was an offshoot of the relentless operation of the police, especially against wanted persons who are in hiding. Chief Superintendent Samuel B. Diciano, deputy regional director for administration of the Police Regional Office (PRO) in the Cordillera, identified the arrested suspect as Efren Alagao, 23, a farmer and resident of Siblong, Bucay. He is one of the suspects in the ambush of Marison Pastor, former legal officer of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte. (Dexter A. See)

Crane kills store owner

CAMP GENERAL ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan — A 33-year-old man who was tending his sari-sari store was pinned to death by a big roller crane in Barangay San Juan, Balagtas town, the other day. Senior Superintendent Diosdado G. Ramos, acting Bulacan police director, identified the victim as Darwin Fortuna Lanistosa, of said barangay. Citing initial report sent by Balagtas police probers, Supt. David N. Poklay, deputy police director for intelligence and investigation, said that the incident happened at about 2:20 p.m. last Wednesday roller crane operated by Siegfred Imperial, 26, accidentally collapsed and fell on its left side, pinning down Lanistosa. The victim sustained severe injuries on his head and body cause his immediate death. (Freddie C. Velez)

Son of massacre suspect yields

CAVITE — The Cavite Police Provincial Office (CPPO) said a massacre case in Tagaytay City was believed to have been solved with the surrender of a son of the suspect. The son of Barangay Calabuso councilman Semproso P. Terrible was surrendered by his relatives last Wednesday noon at the Tagaytay Police Station. The identity of Terrible’s son was withheld for the meantime as he is a minor. Police investigators said that the son was the driver of the motorcycle that Terrible used before and after he killed four men, including three elderly brothers, in a shooting and stabbing rampage in the Calabuso neighborhood. Terrible went into hiding after the incident last Tuesday afternoon.

Police Officer 1 Erlan Demate, officer-on-case, identified those killed as Alberto O. Parducho, 44, Magno M. Fajardo, 72, and his two brothers Lamberto, 62 and Domingo, 64, all residents of Barangay Calabuso. The Fajardo brothers were all farmers. Parducho, a neighbor, was a gardener. Demate said Terrible was drunk when he shot the four victims one after the other in two houses.

Parducho was shot by Terrible with a caliber .45 pistol while he was in his house while the Fajardo brothers were shot at the house of one Lucio Perea. The suspect also stabbed the brothers with a knife when his gun ran out of bullets. Old grudge was the motive of the attack, police said. (Anthony Giron)
