Comelec reminds public of last two days for voter registration

Voters who wish to register only have two days left to do so.
On Friday, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) reminded the public that voter registration will end on Monday, September 30.

(MANILA BULLETIN) And with the last few days of the registration, the poll body expects an influx of voter applicants. Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez, however, assured that their people in the field are prepared to handle such a scenario. “Tomorrow is the last Saturday of voter registration while the last day is on a Monday, so an influx of registrants is to be expected. The Comelec has anticipated this, and we are confident that our employees in the field are prepared to handle the last-dayregistration scenario,” he said in a statement. Persons with Disabilities, Senior Citizens and Heavily Pregnant applicants need not worry as there will be an Express Lane for them. Applicants are advised to proceed to the Office of the Election Officer in their city or municipality, or any satellite registration center in their locality, where they intend to vote, and present at least one valid identification card. The poll body, meantime, revealed the procedures that will be observed on the last day of the voter registration pursuant to Comelec Resolution No. 10549: If there are still applicants lined up to register within the 30 meter radius from the Office of the Election Officer (OEO) by 3 p.m. of September 30, their names will be promptly and consecutively listed down. Each name will be announced repeatedly three times in the order in which the applicants’ names were listed. Applicants who are not present when their names are called shall no longer be allowed to file their application. When an applicant’s name is called and he/she is present, his/her application will be processed and his/her biometrics data will be captured. The process continues until all those listed shall have been processed. As of September 21, the running total of the number of applications processed nationwide stands at 2.6 million. The registration period started on August 1, 2019.
