Duterte, in an interview with 87.5 Davao City Disaster Radio on Wednesday, said she closed down puroks from Barangay Leon Garcia in Agdao District and Daliao in Toril District to contain the possible spread of the virus to adjacent communities.
The mayor said the city government's medical teams conducted random tests in purok Barangay Leon Garcia to check the extent of the virus transmission in the area.
She also granted the request of Daliao Barangay Captain Rodolfo Te to close a purok in his barangay to prevent a possible community transmission.
Duterte said there is a need to immediately close the areas since these are densely-populated.
“Ang kalahian man gud ani nila, mao nang kinahanglan nato sila i-lockdown is because densely populated ang area. Kibalo na ta kung densely populated ang area, paspas gyud na mukalat—mukatag ang kagaw dinha (They must undergo lockdown because those areas are densely populated. We know once an area is densely populated, the spread of the virus is fast),” she said.
In its latest COVID-19 record, Daliao has four positive patients while Leon Garcia has one, as of Wednesday.
Duterte on Tuesday night, also closed down Purok 8 in Barangay 21-C, and Puroks 3,4, and 7 in Barangay 23-C to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
Records also showed that Barangays 21- C and 24-C have positive cases of COVID-19.
She urged the public to stay away from the mentioned barangays - Barangay 21-C, Barangay 23-C, Barangay Leon Garcia, and Barangay Daliao and to respect the lockdown rules.
Duterte said delivery services are prohibited but assured that food ration will be distributed in these areas while the residents are placed on a lockdown.
