Games on Sunday (The Arena, San Juan)
2 p.m. — Lyceum vs St. Benilde
4 p.m. — SSC vs FEU

Defending champion San Sebastian College shoots for its third straight win against the dangerous Far Eastern University while Lyceum and College of St. Benilde go for their first win in the sixth Shakey’s V League at The Arena in San Juan City.

The Lady Tamaraws and the SSC spikers collide at 4 p.m. with FEU looking to move a win shy of claiming the second quarterfinals berth in the league presented by Shakey’s Pizza and organized by Sports Vision.

The first quarterfinal slot had already been secured by league-leading University of Santo Tomas after streaking to its fifth straight win in as many outings last Tuesday.

The Lady Pirates and the Lady Blazers, meanwhile, try to barge into the win column when they collide at 2 p.m. Both teams are tied at sixth with 0-2 cards.

Against the Lady Blazers, the Lady Pirates are installed slight favorites to prevail since they just captured their 10th WNCAA title.

The SSC belles are sporting a 2-0 card while the Lady Tamaraws have a 3-1 record.

Both teams are coming off rousing victories with the FEU spikers shooting down the Ateneo Lady Eagles in four sets and the SSC tossers scoring a straight-set win over the Lady Blazers.

Although the Lady Tamaraws are playing great of late, the SSC lasses remain the favorites because of their awesome offensive arsenal.

Their recent win in the NCAA – their fifth straight – is the testament of their depth and firepower.

The SSC-FEU duel will also be a clash of power hitters with Elaine Cruz, Margarita Pepito, Joy Benito and Melissa Mirasol leading the SSC’s charge and Rachel Daquis, Shaira Gonzalez, Cherry Vivas, and skipper Rose Cabanag tipped to carry the fight for the Lady Tams.

UST, which beat SSC for the first conference crown last June, and Adamson will be out for two weeks to compete in the Unigames in Iloilo City slated this week.

Matches can be viewed live on webcast at www.v-league.ph. NBN-4 will also telecast the games on a delayed basis with the Lyceum-St. Benilde match set at 2 p.m. on Monday and the SSC-FEU game slated on Monday.
