The Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC)-run New Era General Hospital (NEGH) in Quezon City has announced that it will begin using its own rapid test kits for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) tomorrow, April 25, 2020, in a bid to help curb the spread of the pandemic in the country.

During its 27th founding anniversary commemoration on Thursday, April 23, 2020, the NEGH also announced that at least 33 of its 107 COVID-19 positive patients have recovered while the rest are currently undergoing treatment and are showing signs of recovery.
From March 9 onwards, the NEGH said it has already screened 1,000 individuals, of which 319 suspected COVID19 patients were admitted. A total of 107 have tested positive of the virus.
Around 45 persons under investigation (PUI) are under quarantine and await their COVID19 test results.
In bracing for the onslaught of the pandemic, the NEGH, on March 23, 2020, implemented its biocontainment protocol and started the construction of isolation wards intended for PUI.
From a 100-bed hospital, it upgraded its patient admission capabilities to 267 to accommodate those with non-coronavirus illness.
One whole floor of the NEGH was dedicated exclusively for COVID19 patients where rooms are fully equipped with ventilators and medical oxygen supplies.
In addition, it constructed a separate COVID19-suspect triage and quarantine Area to protect non-COVID19 patients, as the hospital continued to perform treatments for other medical cases.
Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) for all hospital personnel are now strictly being implemented while those entering and exiting the hospital buildings are required to go through disinfection and misting procedures.
On Quarantine protocols, all critical and crucial hospital personnel were housed within the complex in order to protect them, their families, and the community from the spread of the disease.
The NEGH said all these initiatives support the Duterte administration’s goal to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. the nation’s victory over the coronavirus pandemic.
The hospital was dedicated on April 23, 1993, through the initiative of the late INC Executive Minister Erano G. Manalo, to primarily serve the ministers and ministerial workers.
Under the leadership of Executive Minister Eduardo V. Manalo, NEGH has continued its mission and vision to serve its millions of members and the community.
