ILOILO CITY—Presidential candidate Vice President Leni Robredo returned to Iloilo Friday, Feb. 25, 2022, a day after the campaign sortie of her rival Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

Robredo, who considers Iloilo as her stronghold, held mini-rallies in four towns and the component city of Passi before the grand rally at Iloilo Sports Complex.
Her visit also coincided with the 36th anniversary of the Edsa People Power Revolution. She had previously visited Iloilo twice before her Friday campaign, which kicked off early morning in Oton town.
“Nalaman ko po seven o’clock sa Oton sabi ko naku, meron kayang pumunta? Tulog pa siguro ‘yung mga tao pero meron po (I know the schedule was around seven o’clock in Oton. Oh my! I wondered if somebody would come because it’s early and people are still sleeping),” said Robredo.
At the Oton rally, Ilonggo Senator Franklin Drilon joined her. She was also accompanied by Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. and Mayor Carina Flores.
From Oton, Robredo went to Concepcion and Ajuy towns in northern Iloilo province. The towns, led by incumbents Mayors Raul Banias and Jett Rojas, welcomed her.
Robredo then proceeded to Passi City, whose incumbent mayor and vice mayor have thrown their support for Marcos.
The vice president then went to the towns of Pototan. She was joined by Iloilo 3rd District Congressman Lorenz Defensor, Iloilo Provincial Board Member Matt Palabrica, Iloilo Provincial Board Member Jason Gonzales, and Mayor Adi Lazadro.
In all her campaign sorties in the areas of the province, Governor Defensor joined her.
Robredo’s grand rally at the Iloilo Sports Complex was also marked with the presence of celebrities, including actress Sharon Cuneta, wife of her running-mate Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan.
Also present were Cherry Pie Picache, Edu Manzano, Rica Peralejo, Bituin Escalante, Lara Quigaman-Alcaraz, Ogie Diaz, Noel Ferrer, Gabby Padilla, Red Ollero, Vic Anastacio, Gaia Poly, Pipay, Mama Loi, Dyosa, and JK Labajo
The band Rivermaya and former Eraserheads frontman Ely Buendia also performed.
