Globe launches Bangon Pinoy program to help rebuild Filipino communities
Globe embarks on a massive effort to help Filipinos affected by the floods to rebuild their lives.
Globe Bangon Pinoy program is an integrated effort that allows communities severely affected by typhoons to benefit from relief operations, financial assistance, network restoration and a series of community-rebuilding activities.
“Bangon Pinoy is our way of rebuilding the country by lending a hand to those who badly need assistance during these times. The program enjoys the full support and cooperation of the communities, the local government, Globe employee volunteers, and even partner NGOs. As we keep the Filipino ‘bayanihan’ spirit alive we are optimistic that we as a nation will be able to overcome this ordeal,” said Ernest Cu, President and CEO of Globe.
The program also underscores the commitment of Globe to 100% full restoration of its network services in areas damaged by the floods.
For its initial operation, Globe visited Gawad Kalinga Camacho in Marikina for a clean up drive. It visited Concepcion Integrated School to restore the school’s broadband internet connection and bring new computers for use of students and faculty. In cooperation with the local government units and different church groups several Libreng Tawag, Libreng Internet, and Libreng Phone Charging stations have been set up in affected areas in Metro Manila and North Luzon.
Bangon Pinoy is also scheduled to distribute farm implements in Globe-Gawad Kalinga Bayan Anihan farms in Luzon. It will visit Baguio City schools to bring new chairs, tables, and books and begin the construction of a two-classroom building.
“The program also provides a first of its kind offer to Globe subscribers, especially those located within the damaged areas.”
Globe rebate offers one month free mobile service to identified postpaid subscribers and one week free load for identified prepaid subscribers, the amount of which will be determined based on their historical reloading patterns. Rebates will also be given to affected Globe Broadband subscribers, covering the period September 26, 2009 until service in their area has been restored. Broadband subscribers will have the option to suspend their postpaid broadband service for a period of one to three months.
Through Bangon Pinoy, Globe helps local entrepreneurs get back on their feet by preparing short- and long-term programs that will help them rebuild their business.
