Men’s holiday look: young and modern

With 50 gorgeous models and more than 160 fearless looks, the retail powerhouse SM Department Store proved its boast, that it does have endless fashion possibilities for everyone. For this coming holiday season, Shoemart proposed four distinct menswear trends: tough biker, resort casual, power dressing, and black and red formal.
For its first segment, Shoemart took the runway by storm with its most trendy ensembles, the biker chic. With studded bracelets, leather gloves, slim-fit jeans, and black motorcycle jackets, the look forwards an easy, wearable version of the tough biker look. One can pull off a New York look with a classic cotton shirt paired with skinny jeans then accessorized with a leather cap and shoes from SM.
A splash of color over classic pieces—reminiscent of American brands like Gap and Banana Republic—did the trick for resort casual. Casual basics like polo shirts, Henley tops, khaki pants and suede moccasins were the foundation of Shoemart’s transition into resort. With the help of a few accessories like tartan scarves, stylish sunglasses, and somber-tinted hats, one can pull off the look without any difficulty.
The menswear power dressing styles in the Shoemart show resembled those of young Wall Street archetypes ready to conquer the world as heralded by the international design houses of Ralph Lauren and Paul Smith. With a fresh outlook in business, these men also reflect the aesthetic in their corporate wardrobe of navy and yellow pinstriped suits, mismatched blazer and trouser ensembles, and jolts of colors. For the more conservative ones, the trend also featured sleek, dark suits worn with traditional long-sleeved shirt with matching ties for that strictly coordinated look. The key items were the chic waistcoats and leather accessories such as the clutch, satchel, and portfolio bags.
To cap its Holiday 2009 presentation, SM took formal fashion into a new direction. Models decked in black, white and red pieces really captured the essence of today’s modern evening wear. The key look from the segment consisted of black suits in sheeny fabrics as well as the blood red blazer with slim, black trousers.
