Caltex stations offer convenience with new 7-Eleven stores
Chevron Philippines Incorporated (CPI) teams up with global convenience store chain 7-Eleven to be the gas company’s convenience store brand in Caltex retail stations located around Metro Manila, and soon around Luzon.
The agreement was formally introduced to the public last week during the opening of the first 7-Eleven store in Caltex Malugay in Makati and Caltex Connecticut, San Juan.
“Our alliance with 7-Eleven is part of a global strategy geared at making us concentrate on our core business function which is to market top quality fuels and petroleum products safely and reliably,” said CPI country chairman Jim Meynink.
“The alliance with 7-Eleven, the recognized market leader in C-store operations, provides a compelling value proposition for our consumers and motorists who can now get their Caltex fuel and petroleum products as well as their favorite consumer items whenever they drive through our Caltex retail station with a 7-Eleven convenience store located in it.”Seven more 7-Eleven convenience stores are opening in Caltex retail stations across Metro Manila within the month of October. By the end of the year, some 21 7-Eleven convenience stores will be operational in Caltex retail stations in the city.
The agreement between the two brands is expected to boost fuel and consumer sales as patrons enjoy the benefit of getting their fuels and consumer products all in the same location.
The CPI chairman also announced that existing Star Mart convenience stores around Metro Manila will be replaced by 7-Eleven stops. The same plan is expected to be implemented in Star Marts across Visayas and Mindanao.
The agreement was finalized after almost a year of negotiations, with Chevron making sure that only the most trusted convenience store chain will service their fuel customers. A memorandum of agreement between Chevron and the Philippine Seven Corporation (PSC), local franchisor of the 7-Eleven convenience store chain, was signed October last year.
“We thank Caltex for placing its trust in us as we build our brands together and move forward,” said Victor Paterno, Philippine Seven Corporation president and CEO. “By having an alliance with an industry leader, we will open some very exciting marketing opportunities for Caltex, 7-Eleven, and the car-riding customer that we will be jointly serving.”Caltex customers can avail themselves of the usual products and services available in all 7-Eleven outlets such as food, drinks, ready-to-serve meals, as well as other products needed by motorists such as maps and call cards.
As an added convenience, Caltex customers will also be able to use Star cards for purchases made in 7-Eleven Caltex branches.
