BUTUAN CITY — A 4.1-magnitude earthquake struck Surigao del Sur province early Sunday morning,, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

However, the provincial disaster risk reduction and management council there reported no damages or injuries after the early morning tremor struck in that Pacific Ocean-facing province of Surigao del Sur yesterday.
In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the tremor was registered at 5:37 a.m.
The epicenter was located 116 kilometers northwest of Lingig town, Surigao del Sur, it said.
The tremor had a depth of 31 km, Phivolcs said.
No aftershock is expected.
The earthquake was tectonic in origin and no tsunami alert was raised by the state agency.
