If it is not different from the common 16-inch laptop, then what is there to talk about the Dell Latitude Z?

To begin with, this new Dell product’s claim to fame is being the world’s first lightest and thinnest, at present.

Furthermore, it specifically targets impression makers, such as entrepreneurs, attorneys, creative professionals, salespeople and leading higher education faculty.

At less than an inch thin and starting at 4.5 pounds with a four-cell battery, which comes standard, this laptop boast of being the world’s first laptop with wireless docking and inductive charging.

Dell’s EdgeTouch technology allows users to interact with commonly used applications and media controls through a touch interface that is on the bezel of the system’s screen. Spacious multi-touch touchpad and silky-touch backlit keyboard are its other features.

Add to this, a high-definition (1600x900) WLED display and two megapixel camera featuring Dell Capture technology allows users to scan and save business cards to Microsoft Outlook contacts and copy documents.

Furthermore, Dell FaceAware Lock-Out technology automatically locks out other users when a user steps away from the laptop.

In addition to these features, the Latitude Z is available with WLAN, Bluetooth and optional 3G WWAN mobile broadband. It is the latest addition to the Latitude series which promises the manageability, enterprise-level security and service options that professionals worldwide have come to expect from Dell, said a company press release.

The Latitude Z is now available in select countries in Europe and Asia, as well as Canada and the US, starting at $1,999.

The Latitude Z joins purpose-engineered products like the Latitude 2100 netbook for education, Latitude E6400 XFR fully rugged laptop and Dell Precision M6400 mobile workstation as another step in Dell’s strategy to develop differentiated form factors and solutions that meet specific customer usage needs.

The company is also expanding its core family of products that are stable, manageable and secure for businesses and institutions with the addition of the Dell OptiPlex 780 mainstream desktop and Dell Precision T1500 entry-level workstation, the World’s First Workstation Built for AutoCAD.
