"Let’s face it, I am not getting any younger.”

"Let’s face it, I am not getting any younger,” quips ‘man of the hour’ Derek Ramsay during the recent launch of Century Corned Tuna which he endorses.  It is quite hard to believe that this chiseled-faced and unbelievably sexy man who will only be turning 30 on December would worry himself with such.

To those who have not followed Derek’s steady rise to stardom, he started out as a commercial model and later ventured into hosting.  His gift of gab landed him a stint as one of the hosts in the now defunct celebrity dance program “U Can Dance”.  Later on he invaded MTV Philippines as one of its most followed VJs.  Currently, he takes part in a showbiz oriented magazine talk show “Entertainment Konek” while filming “I Love You, Goodbye,” Star Cinema’s entry for this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival.

The real juicy part though is his high profile relationship with equally talented actress Angelica Panganiban.  And during this interview, not even once did he fail to mention the love of his life’s name.  He fondly tells that Angelica recently finished a three-month culinary course.  “I haven’t eaten anything that she feeds me that I don’t like,” he chuckles disproving the many speculations that their relationship are on the rocks.

His life’s passions

Apart from having a busy schedule and a flourishing love life, Derek couldn’t stop talking about his passion for sports – alongside how it rubbed off to his lady love.  “Angel is also now into Frisbee.”  Obviously influenced by the mild-mannered actor who’s been gearing up for a tournament happening this month.

When asked what else he’s crazy about, Derek declares: “You name it, I do it!”  Whenever he’s not playing Ultimate Frisbee, he can be found playing basketball or golf.  Derek disciplines himself to do pushups every morning and eat the right food. Thus, his active lifestyle makes him the face of fitness and health – a much sought-after endorser, indeed!

“I am very active and I have this strange habit of eating almost every two hours.”  He explains that since he is actively engaged in sports, he has a fast metabolism and the canned tuna that he is endorsing contains high protein.  He adds, “With all the physical activities that I do, I really need the protein in my body.”

Well-balanced meal

Needless to say, Derek rigorously watches what he eats.  “I need less salt in my diet.  Century Corned Tuna comprises my basic meal during college in Boston.  I remember how funny it is, how we steal the tuna from our friend and hide it.”

Derek enthuses that he was quite excited when he was tapped to be the endorser of Century Corned Tuna.  “I was just so happy to endorse a product that I believe in since I prefer less sodium in my diet and there’s no transfat.  It’s lean straight protein and it’s all what my body asks for when I’m doing my sports so, it is a well-balanced meal.”

He finally concludes, “My body is like a car that constantly needs fuel to maintain its active function.  If you maintain the discipline of being active, your body will burn anything.”
