Former Cavite vice gov charged with perjury

Dencito “Osboy” Campaña has been charged with perjury before the Sandiganbayan Second Division due to the reportedly anomalous declaration made in his 2007 statement of assets liabilities and net worth (SALN). (MANILA BULLETIN) (MANILA BULLETIN) In the charge sheet filed by Graft Investigation and Prosecution Officer III Ismaela Boco, Campaña was accused of violating Article 183 of the Revised Penal Code. On April 30, 2008, he made a felonious declaration in his SALN for the year 2007 since he deliberately omitted or failed to declare a vehicle registered under his name - a 1999 Toyota Revo with plate number WKB 720, which he acquired in 2007. Boco said he made a "willful and deliberate assertion of a falsehood in a sworn statement required to be filed under Section 8 of Republic Act 6713, to the damage and prejudice of the public interest." His bail bond has been set at P6,000. Campaña's perjury charge has been approved by both Ombudsman Samuel Martires and his predecessor, Conchita Carpio Morales.
