Michael Jackson’s posthumous success continues

Michael Jackson’s recent triumph at the movies spills over to the US album charts with the “This Is It” CD topping the Billboard album chart this week.
The companion soundtrack to the worldwide number one movie is Jackson’s sixth number one album on the Billboard 200.
The gloved one's previous number one albums were “Thriller,” “Bad,” “Dangerous,” “HIStory,” and “Invincible.”
Jackson continues to be a money maker even after death, with past efforts like “Number Ones” and the aforementioned “Thriller” recently hitting the charts anew following his death last June 25. His greatest hit set “Number Ones” is the best-selling album of 2009.
Though the new Jackson album has only one new song and tracks that were already included in previous releases, “This Is It” still managed to move 373,000 copies for the week ending Nov. 1.
“This Is It,” a demo recording which dates back 1991, is a song Jackson co-wrote with Neil Sedaka and is heard in the closing credits of Jackson’s movie about the preparations and rehearsals for his planned residency at the O2 Arena in London.
The track-listing in the CD follows the order of how the songs appeared in the movie.
“This Is It” (the movie) earned $104 million during its first weekend of worldwide release.
