CHED to monitor colleges offering Education, Accountancy
ILOILO CITY (PNA) – The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) will be monitoring colleges offering education and accountancy, after the agency has gone through institutions offering maritime and nursing courses.
CHED Regional Director Rex Casiple said that the monitoring is being conducted to see which schools have zero performance or no passers in licensure examination in the last five years.
According to Dr. Casiple, CHED’s monitoring showed that schools in Western Visayas offering maritime and nursing courses have no zero performance. The official is optimistic that similar results will be obtained in the monitoring of colleges offering education and accountancy courses.
However, he said that should they find a school with zero performance in the region, the CHED central office would be the only authority to issue order closure on the school’s courses. Close monitoring of these colleges by the CHED is one way to ensure that schools in the country are maintaining educational standards and producing quality students.
The exercise likewise serves as a guide for parents to choose well in deciding where to send their children for education.
