(CAMILLE ANTE / MANILA BULLETIN) "Nabawasan na ng isa ang pumatay sayo (One of your killers is now dead)," he said in a Facebook post, addressing his son. "R.I.P. Ricky Arquilita." Carlito said he and his wife, Eva, heard about Patrolman Ricky Arquilita's death from Prosecutor Xerxes Garcia. On Wednesday, defense counsel Dodjie Encinas confirmed to reporters that Arquilita passed away in confinement on April 20. Arquilita's death certificate showed that he died at 3:26 a.m. due to massive blood loss, upper gastrointestinal bleeding, multiple liver nodules and gallstones on his gallbladder, according to JO1 Ghener Danao, Valenzuela City Jail nurse. "Syempre nakakalungkot din naman (Of course, it is still saddening)," Carlito said. "Karma na siguro 'yan kay Arquilita (That may be Arquilita's karma)." Although Arquilita's charges will be dismissed once the Navotas Regional Trial Court (RTC) receives his death certificate, Carlito said they "will still get justice" for Carl's killing since Patrolman Jefrey Perez is still on trial. "Makukuha pa rin namin ang hustisya, nandyan pa naman si Perez (We will still get justice because Perez is still there)," he said. The next bail hearing for the murder and planting of evidence charges against Perez is set on June 3. Carl, a 19-year-old University of the Philippines student, went missing on the night of August 17, 2017 after he went out of his house in Cainta, Rizal to buy snacks. He was found dead 10 days later in a morgue in Caloocan City with five gunshot wounds and several bruises. Carl's parents say that he was picked up and tortured by the two policemen, but the cops claimed that Carl was a hold upper and fired at them, leaving them no choice but to retaliate.
